Feature: Dependency Risk
Find your single-person dependencies before they find you
Every team has domains that only one person truly understands. Brekfuz scores each domain by how concentrated its ownership is, how critical it is to active projects, and how close the sole owner is to a leave or transition event.
The risk model
How Brekfuz scores dependency risk
Each knowledge domain gets a composite risk score based on three factors. Domains that score high on all three are flagged as critical risks requiring immediate attention.
01
Ownership concentration
What percentage of signals in this domain comes from a single person? A domain where one person accounts for more than 80% of the activity over 12 months is a concentrated dependency, regardless of team size.
02
Project criticality
How many active projects or customer-facing systems depend on this domain? A concentrated domain that underpins two critical production systems is a higher risk than one tied to a single internal tool.
03
Owner availability
Is the domain owner's availability at risk? This factor weighs upcoming planned leave from your HR system, role change signals, reduced recent activity, and other indicators that the owner's availability could change.
What the dashboard gives you
From risk score to transfer plan
Prioritized risk list
A ranked list of your highest-risk knowledge domains, sorted by composite score. Click any domain to see its full profile: who owns it, which projects depend on it, and when the risk is projected to peak.
Transfer candidate matching
For each high-risk domain, Brekfuz suggests the two or three people in your organization who have the strongest adjacent knowledge and are the most viable candidates to receive a knowledge transfer.
Scheduled alerts
Set threshold alerts so that when a domain's risk score crosses your defined threshold, the relevant manager receives an alert via email or Slack with the current risk summary and suggested next steps.
